Project Background
A factory with an annual production capacity of 200,000 sets of furniture experienced dust concentrations in the cutting, edge banding, and sanding processes that exceeded the standard by 5-8 times (national standard ≤3mg/m³, actual measured 15-20mg/m³). The existing stand-alone dust collectors were inefficient and posed an explosion hazard.
Treatment Solution
A negative pressure central dust collection system was implemented. Dust hoods were installed at dust-generating points, and the dust was collected via ducts to an outdoor baghouse dust collector (filtration accuracy ≤5μm). A cyclone pre-treatment unit was also added to separate large wood dust particles. The explosion-proof design included anti-static coating of the duct walls, spark detectors, an automatic sprinkler system, explosion vents, and a separate paint shop. Dry filter boxes and activated carbon adsorption devices were installed in the sanding area. The spray line utilized water curtain dust removal and UV photolysis, and wastewater was recycled.
Treatment Results
The dust concentration in the workshop has been reduced to 1.2 mg/m³, exceeding the national standard. The paint odor removal rate has reached 85%, and there have been zero complaints from the surrounding area. The annual operating cost is approximately 230,000 yuan (150,000 yuan for electricity and 80,000 yuan for maintenance). The total project investment is 1.2 million yuan, with a payback period of 1.5 years.
